Questions New Zealand homeowners ask us
Straight answers on pricing, scheduling, clippings and everything else — before you get in touch.
How much does lawn mowing cost?
A standard residential mow starts at $35, and that includes edging and a blow-down. The final number depends on the size of your section, how easy it is to get in, and how long the grass has got — so you get a fixed price before anything is booked, free and with no obligation.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No lock-in contract. Regular visits run on a simple service agreement that sets out the schedule and the price, and you can pause, move or cancel with reasonable notice. Most people stay because the lawn looks good, not because they're tied in.
Do you take the grass clippings away?
Your choice. We mulch by default, which chops clippings fine and returns nutrients to the soil — on a regularly mown lawn you won't notice them within a few hours. If you'd rather they were collected and taken away, just tell us and we'll do that instead. Bulk garden waste and heavy pruning are a separate job — see shrubs & rubbish removal.
Is edging included, or is it extra?
Included. Every mow comes with edging along paths, drives and borders, plus a blow-down so clippings aren't left across your hard surfaces. That's the standard service, not an add-on.
My lawn is badly overgrown — can you still do it?
Yes, and it's a big part of what we do. Very long grass can't be dropped to a tidy height in one pass without damaging it, so we take it down in stages. It takes a bit longer than a standard mow, and the quote reflects that — but we'll tell you the number before we start. If a section has been left a long while, a full section clean-up is usually the cheaper way in.
Do I need to be home when you visit?
Not at all. As long as we can get to the lawn, we’ll take care of it and you’ll come home to a tidy section. Just let us know about locked gates, dogs or anything else we should know, and we’ll send a reminder before each visit.
What happens if it rains on my scheduled day?
Mowing a saturated lawn tears the grass and leaves ruts, so we’ll push the visit to the next suitable day and let you know. With the rain we get here it happens from time to time — your schedule simply picks back up as normal afterwards.
Who actually turns up at my place?
The same Lawnify crew, and every person on it has been police-vetted before they start. You are not getting a different contractor each visit, which is a large part of why property managers and body corporates are comfortable putting us on their sites.
