Above it, a ride-on starts saving real time, and past an acre it is the only sensible way to do it regularly. If you are on the border, tell us the address and we will say honestly which one suits.
Depends how you value your time. An entry-level ride-on in New Zealand runs somewhere between four and ten thousand dollars, then petrol, blade sharpening, annual servicing and a dry shed to keep it in. A breakdown in November can take weeks to sort, which is exactly when you cannot afford to be off the grass. Plenty of our block customers own a mower and still book us for the main season.
Where it is safe, yes. Rollovers are the main serious injury on lifestyle blocks, so we look at the ground first, especially after rain. Anything too steep or too soft gets trimmed rather than ridden. It still gets cut, just by a different method.
Yes, and it is included. A deck cannot get tight to a post or a trunk, so without hand trimming you end up with a green ring around every obstacle. We do it on the same visit rather than treating it as an extra.
Yes. Long grass gets taken down in stages, around 25 to 30mm at a time, so the deck is not bogging and the finish stays even. It takes longer than a maintenance cut and the first quote reflects that, but after one or two visits it comes right back onto a normal rhythm.
Less often than a suburban lawn. Through the Bay of Plenty growing season, roughly Labour Weekend to April, every two to four weeks keeps most blocks tidy. Over winter it drops right back, and some properties skip a couple of months entirely. We set the schedule around your block rather than a fixed cycle.
