Shrubs & Rubbish Removal in Pāpāmoa
The corner that’s been bothering you for two years. We do the pulling, the loading and the trip — and it all leaves on the trailer rather than sitting behind the shed.
From $95per load, disposal included
Fixed price agreed before we start — nothing added after.
- Overgrown shrubs out at the root
- Section clearances
- We do the loading
- Everything off site same day
What needs to go?
Describe it roughly — volume and access are what set the price.
What a clearance involves, and what Pāpāmoa adds
Left is any clearance job. Right is what tends to be behind it here.
Volume and access set the price
Not the number of plants. A few big shrubs can be several cubic metres, and how far that has to be carried to the trailer is most of the labour.
The beach end is barrow country
Older Pāpāmoa blocks sit close to the boundary with no vehicle access past the house, so every load goes to the street by hand. That is real labour and it goes in the quote.
Roots or it comes back
A shrub cut at the base is a shrub that re-shoots. Anything meant to be gone comes out at the root, or gets the stump ground.
Salt kills a lot of planting here
Soft-leaved shrubs on the seaward side die back and get left standing for years. Half of what we clear in Pāpāmoa is plants that were never going to cope with this exposure.
Green waste is not rubbish
It goes to be composted rather than landfilled, which costs a little more and is the right thing to do with it.
And nothing goes over the back fence
Parts of Pāpāmoa back onto dune reserve. Clippings smother the low vegetation holding those dunes together, so it all leaves on the trailer. Not negotiable.
Some things we can’t take
Anything needing licensed disposal — asbestos, paint, chemicals, gas bottles. We will tell you the right drop-off rather than quietly leaving it.
Old baches turn up all sorts
Clearing a long-neglected Pāpāmoa section regularly uncovers things that are not green waste. We separate it out and tell you what it is rather than pretending we did not see it.
- Shrubs and growth taken out at the root
- Cut back, loaded and carried out by us
- Green waste away to be composted
- Non-green waste separated and identified
- Area raked back before we leave
- Photo through when it’s clear
If you want stumps ground or the cleared area mulched or turfed afterwards, say so at the quote and we’ll do it in the same visit rather than coming back.
Clearances done well, and done badly
The difference shows up a year later, when you find out whether it actually went.
What happens on the day
Anything from a couple of hours to a full day, depending on volume and how far the barrow goes.
-
Walk it and agree the line
Exactly what goes and what stays. Easy to lose something you wanted kept once the chainsaw is out.
-
Cut down and pull out
Roots included on anything meant to be gone for good.
-
Sort as we load
Green waste one way, anything needing licensed disposal set aside and shown to you.
-
Carry out
On a tight section that means barrowing to the street, which is most of the labour.
-
Rake back and photo
The area left tidy rather than torn up, then a photo through.
What happens to a pile left on site
This is the single most common thing we get called back to deal with.
What a clearance costs in Pāpāmoa
Volume and carry-out, not plant count. Photos get you a close number without a visit.
A full trailer load is from about $180, and bigger clearances are quoted by volume and access. On a standard section with a drive we can usually price it from two or three photos without coming out at all.
Send photos, get a numberPhotos genuinely help on this one. Volume is hard to describe and easy to underestimate — what looks like “a couple of shrubs” is often three trailer loads once it is on the ground. Text a few through to 0800 632 723 and you will get a number back the same day rather than waiting on a site visit.
When to book a clearance
Works any time, but two windows are easier and one is genuinely worth avoiding.
Autumn and winter are the easy run. Growth has eased, the material is lighter, and it is our quietest period so a big job gets proper time on it. Avoid mid-December if you can — Pāpāmoa fills up over summer and anything needing a trailer and street parking gets considerably harder. Spring needs a nest check on dense growth.
Had a corner full of dead shrubs and about ten years of stuff behind the shed. Rang expecting to be told it was too big a job. Two of them, one afternoon, and they took the lot — including the bits I’d been quietly hoping they wouldn’t notice.
What people ask us
The ones that come up on nearly every clearance we quote.
Do we have to pile it up first for rubbish removal in Pāpāmoa?
No, and please do not. The loading is the job and it is already in the price. If you have already piled something up we will take that too, but you do not need to do any of the work beforehand — a lot of people assume they do and then put the whole thing off for another year.
What can’t rubbish removal in Pāpāmoa take?
Anything needing licensed disposal — asbestos, paint, garden chemicals, gas bottles, and general household rubbish beyond the odd item. If we find any of it in a clearance we set it aside and tell you what it is and where it should go, rather than burying it in the load. Green waste, shrubs, branches and garden debris are all fine.
Will shrubs grow back after shrub removal in Pāpāmoa?
Not if they come out at the root, which is what we do on anything meant to be gone for good. If a stump is too big to pull we grind it out instead. This matters more here than most places, because griselinia and privet are common Pāpāmoa hedging and both re-shoot hard from a cut base.
Can a rubbish removal trailer get onto our Pāpāmoa section?
Usually, and it makes a real difference to the price. On the older beach blocks where the house sits close to the boundary there is often no vehicle access past it, which means every load is barrowed to the street. That is genuine labour and it goes in the quote rather than turning up as a surprise on the day.
Where does the rubbish go after removal from Pāpāmoa sections?
Green waste goes to be composted rather than to landfill. It costs a little more and it is the right thing to do with it. What it does not do is go over your back fence — parts of Pāpāmoa back onto dune reserve, and clippings smother the low vegetation that holds those dunes together.
Can rubbish removal clear a Pāpāmoa section before a sale or inspection?
Yes, and it is a good part of what we do here. Tell us the date you need it done by and we will work back from that. If it is for a rental inspection or an end of tenancy we can send dated before and after photos and an itemised invoice for your file.
How much does rubbish removal cost in Pāpāmoa?
From $95 for a smaller load with good access, about $180 for a full trailer load, and up from there by volume. Volume is genuinely hard to judge by eye — what looks like a couple of shrubs is often three loads once it is on the ground. Text a few photos to 0800 632 723 and we will give you a number the same day without needing to visit.
Do we need to be home for rubbish removal in Pāpāmoa?
No. As long as we can reach the pile or the shrubs and know about any locked gates or pets, we can do the job while you’re out. You’ll get photos once the section is clear, which suits owners who are at work or living elsewhere.
While we’re at your place
Clearances usually get booked alongside one of these.
