Cutting a shrub down to ground level is quick, but most established shrubs will simply regrow from the root system left behind, sometimes denser than before.
Full removal means digging out the root ball, which takes longer and produces more spoil, but it’s the only way to actually reclaim the space for something else.
We’ll tell you honestly which one your situation needs. If a shrub just needs cutting back and shaping, that’s a much smaller job than removal, and there’s no point paying for the bigger one.
