Shrubs & Rubbish Removal Bethlehem

Shrubs & Rubbish Removal in Bethlehem

We dig shrubs out with the root ball rather than cutting them off at ground level, then sort what comes up into green waste, general rubbish and the things that belong at a licensed facility instead. Everything loaded leaves on our trailer and the dump fees are already in the figure. Done across the ridge streets and the older established gardens alike. From $95 a load.

Three things worth knowing before a Bethlehem clear-out

What gets described as one rubbish removal job is usually three, and they do not all leave on the same trailer.

What counts as green waste Organic is not the same as green

Prunings, shrub cuttings and garden clearance go through the organic stream. Treated or painted timber and anything that has had chemicals near it does not, whatever it is made of. We separate that on site before a trailer is loaded, because a contaminated load gets turned away at the gate and somebody pays for that twice.

Root ball size Spade job or machine job

A young shrub lifts out with hand tools in a few minutes. Something that has been in the ground on an older Bethlehem street for a decade has a root plate under it that decides the whole visit, and occasionally needs machinery. That is the question we are answering when we ask how long it has been there.

Access for disposal The trailer has to reach the pile

A side run that a wheelbarrow handles fine can still mean forty trips to fill a trailer parked out on the street. Access moves this quote more than almost anything else, and on a sloped ridge driveway it moves it again. Worth a sentence when you enquire.

Why half-removing a shrub costs more than leaving it

This is the shortcut that turns one invoice into two.

Taking a shrub out means the root plate comes with it. Cutting the thing off at ground level clears the view and leaves a living root system exactly where it was, which is a tidy-looking bed with the problem still buried in it.

A good number of hedging shrubs will push new shoots straight back up from roots left behind. The bed you looked at six weeks ago is suddenly growing again out of the stump you thought had gone, and the whole job gets paid for a second time.

Full removal costs more on the day and less over two years. Getting a spread root plate out is genuine work, sometimes with a machine on a big shrub, and it is the only version of this job that is actually finished when the trailer pulls away.

So the time on the root ball is not us stretching the invoice. It is the difference between a bed that stays cleared and one you ring us about again in spring.

Full removal Root ball fully out — job actually finished Cut-and-leave Live root left in ground — resprouts within weeks CUT-AND-LEAVE VERSUS FULL ROOT REMOVAL.
A shrub cut off at ground level has been pruned, not removed. On the wrong shrub it is back inside a season, and the second visit costs what the first one saved you.

What a shrub and rubbish removal visit includes

Shrub and rubbish removal in five steps, and the sorting happens before anything is lifted.

  1. Sort it before lifting itWhat is green, what is general rubbish, and what we are not taking at all. Decided standing in the garden, not discovered at the transfer station.
  2. Dig the shrubs out wholeRoot plate out with the shrub. Nothing is cut off at the ground and backfilled over, because that comes back.
  3. Load it in sectionsGreen, general and recyclable each get their own corner of the trailer, so nothing has to be unpicked at the other end.
  4. Sweep the ground afterThe bare patch gets raked and the hard surfaces blown down. Big items gone is not the same as a clear section.
  5. No second invoiceThe tip fees sat inside the quoted figure from the start, so a full trailer does not turn into an extra line later.

Hazardous material stays out of our trailer, and off your invoice. Paint tins, gas bottles and chemically treated timber belong at a licensed facility. Anything like that on your pile gets pointed out while we are standing there, with the place it needs to go, rather than quietly left behind for you to discover.

What a clear-out looks like across Bethlehem

Two kinds of clear-out in this suburb, and they bring up different things.

On the newer ridge streets the call is usually about what the build left behind: offcuts, old fencing, the shelter planting that went in and then came out again. On the older tree-lined streets it is almost always planting that has outgrown its spot after twenty or thirty years. Different material, different sort, different machine. Tell us which one you are looking at and the quote arrives accurate rather than hopeful.

Elevated & rolling

Newer ridge-top sites

  • Builders’ offcuts and old fencing left after handover, some of it treated and therefore not ours to take
  • A steep driveway approach means the trailer parks further out, and that shows up in the hours rather than hiding in them
  • Old shelter-planting root plates often turn up once somebody starts putting the garden in properly
  • Sorted properly on the first visit, so a brand-new section does not begin life with a pile behind the shed
River-flat & established

Established, tree-lined streets

  • Planting that has simply outgrown where it was put, or is being replaced after twenty or thirty years
  • Root plates go out with the green waste, soil knocked off them first so you are not paying to cart dirt
  • The older streets are often narrower than the new ridge roads, so where the trailer can legally sit matters
  • Storm debris lands here too, and mature trees on these streets drop more of it than young ones do

Name your window when you enquire and you will get a yes or a no on it. Storm weeks and the spring tidy-up are when this service is busiest, so a date confirmed in advance is worth more than an optimistic one. If we cannot make your window you will hear that while you still have time to arrange something else.

What moves it
VolumeHow many trailer loads it comes to, which is most of the price
Root platesTwenty years in the ground is a different dig to two
Carry distanceHow far it is from the pile to where a trailer can legally sit
Waste typeAnything hazardous is turned down rather than quietly billed

Only the starting figure is fixed, and there is a reason for it. Volume and carry distance run this job, so two Bethlehem gardens with the same number of shrubs can be an hour apart depending on where a trailer is allowed to stop. We look, we put one figure in writing with the disposal inside it, and that figure holds.

When Bethlehem calls us for a clear-out

Two busy stretches a year, and the weather decides the rest.

JanFebMarAprMayJun JulAugSepOctNovDec
Spring tidy-up surge — Sep–NovSteady — year-roundStorm season — Jan–Mar

Spring and storm weeks are the two stretches when the diary fills up. The rest of the year a clear-out drops in without much notice. Say when you need it done and you will know where you stand rather than hoping.

If something on your pile needs a licensed facility, we will not quietly load it and bill you for the trip. You get told what it is, where it has to go, and it stays out of our trailer. A refused load at the gate costs more than an honest conversation in the garden.

How we handle what we cannot takeSaid on site, before anything is loaded

What Bethlehem owners ask about a clear-out

What people ask before they let a trailer onto the property.

01How much is shrub and rubbish removal in Bethlehem?

Ninety-five dollars is where a single load starts, tip fees and all. Two things move it from there: how many loads it turns into, and how far the heap sits from where a trailer can park. One written figure, agreed first, so a full trailer never becomes a second bill.

02Will the shrub grow back?

Not where the root plate comes out with it, which is how we do it. The version that regrows is the one where somebody cuts the shrub off at ground level and backfills over the roots. A fair few hedging shrubs push straight back up from that within a season.

03Why does taking the roots out cost more?

Because digging is not cutting. Twenty years of growth puts a root plate under a shrub that sometimes wants a machine to shift. The invoice is bigger once and smaller over two years, because the bed does not need doing again.

04What will you not take away?

Paint tins, gas bottles and treated timber, along with anything that has been through a chemical process. A licensed facility takes those, a garden trailer does not. Find some on your pile and you will hear exactly what it is and where to take it, at no cost to you.

05What is the difference between green waste and general rubbish?

Anything that grew in your garden goes through the organic stream. Furniture, building material and household clutter do not, and they end up at a different facility. Both stay in separate piles on the trailer, because a mixed load gets turned away and somebody pays for that trip twice.

06Do you recycle what can be recycled?

Yes, kept as its own pile rather than tipped in with the general rubbish. It costs us nothing extra to separate it while we are loading and it is the obvious thing to do.

07How soon can you come?

Give us your window and you will hear whether it is achievable, not a maybe. There is usually room. The exceptions are spring and the fortnight after a serious blow, when everybody rings at once.

08Can you clear storm debris?

Yes, and it is the one job here with no schedule to it, because it happens when the weather decides. Send a photo of what came down if you can, since a quote off a description tends to be wrong in one direction or the other.

09What is the biggest thing that moves the price?

Volume, then how far it has to be carried. A big clear-out with the trailer right beside the heap can come in cheaper than a small one down a long, narrow, sloping side path. Say a word about your access when you write.

10Do you take the soil off the root plates?

Yes, knocked off before loading. Soil is heavy and you should not be paying to cart dirt to a green waste facility when it can stay in your garden where it is useful.

11Can you clear a bed back to bare ground?

That is a normal version of this job. Shrubs out with their roots, the bed raked over and everything carted. If you plan to replant or mulch it afterwards, say so, because that changes how we leave the surface.

12Is this the same as a rental clean-up?

Related but not the same. End-of-tenancy work with dated photographs and an invoice split between tenant and owner work sits under rental and section clean-ups. This page is ordinary shrub and rubbish clearance for any property.

13Do I need to be home while you do it?

No, provided we can get to the material and park the trailer. We will want a clear instruction on anything you are unsure about keeping, because the one thing we cannot undo is taking something you wanted.

14Which parts of Bethlehem do you cover?

All of it, new ridge streets and old established ones. Sitting right on the suburb edge? Send the address and we will see how the run lines up with it.
